JANE KERR – FINE ART BIOGRAPHY
PAG President – Member since 2011
Inspiration for her artwork comes from the awe and excitement Jane feels from the interaction of light and energy. Her recent cloudscapes reflect an ethereal light while her prairie landscapes capture the glistening sun or moon on the water of lakes, rivers and sloughs. Electrical light and energy are portrayed in nocturnal cityscapes.
Jane’s lifelong artistic journey has been one of continuous discovery and happy accidents! She was born and raised in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Although she currently resides in Regina, her art studio is located at beautiful Buffalo Pound Lake where she escapes the hustle and bustle of the city.
Basically self- taught, her work has been influenced by many late and great artists. She has participated in numerous workshops where she has experimented with different art styles and media. Recent certification in Gemmology has enabled Jane to create an “art jewel box” from which she extracts rich and vibrant jewel-toned hues to achieve the luminous quality in her artwork. Her current works in acrylic and mixed media are considered to be contemporary and bordering on the realm of abstraction.
Her deep appreciation for the healing of mind, body and soul through the integration of colour, light and sound is the manifestation of her many years working as a medical professional. Jane finds ripples on water to be mesmerizing and cloud formations to be meditative.
Jane has participated in juried exhibitions and her artworks have toured in provincial, national and international exhibitions (Imago Mundi – Italy). Her work can be found in both corporate and private collections locally and abroad.
