Growing up on the family farm near Winnipegosis, MB, Eila spent her days roaming the countryside and splashing around the shores of Lake Winnipegosis. She spent a short period of time living the city life in Winnipeg, MB, before moving up North to Flin Flon, MB, where she was immersed in the wildness of Canada’s Boreal Forest.
Eila began painting later in life, once her children had left home. Painting quickly became her favourite pastime, setting up a small studio in her house with an easel, some good light, a palette of professional acrylic paints and select brushes.
After retiring from the Flin Flon School Division in 2013, Eila devoted more time to her art. She had always enjoyed photography, and as Eila became more experienced with painting, she purchased a quality camera for collecting images of flowers, wildlife or landscapes that could be later referenced for details when at the canvas. Photography created a second pastime exploring the northern landscape and capturing new inspirations in every adventure.
With a lifetime of memories, acrylic has provided Eila with an opportunity to place her love of the North on canvas for others to enjoy. There is no lack of imagination with Mother Nature at her side.
Eila moved to Regina, SK in January 2026.
