Anita Kohl is a self-taught artist, born and raised in Regina. Her artistic skills were first noticed by her kindergarten teacher and subsequent teachers, including highly acclaimed Regina artist Wilf Perrault who gave her the best advice any artist can receive, “Just do it!”. And she did. After completing high school, she entered exhibitions winning several top awards for her portraits and pencil drawings. While she did not pursue this path as a career, she managed to express herself by incorporating her artistic skills in both her professional career and volunteer activities. She has since taken several art classes, both university level and through various organizations and artists’ workshops. She prefers to work in acrylics but also works with alcohol inks, pastels, and more recently is exploring botanical mono printing. She is frequently requested to do commissions. Subject matter varies and has included portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. She is still finding her voice and style but knows this is the path that she definitely belongs on.
