Jim has lived all his life in Regina. He went to Thomson School and Balfour Technical School. After studying at the University of Saskatchewan, he returned to Regina where he was employed by the Public School Board for thirty years. While art has always been a main part of his life so have magic and hypnotic performances as James Albert or clowning as Petals the Clown. Jim has been a long time community volunteer giving much of his time to Rotary, the Regina Exhibition Association, Taylor Field, and preaching in the Lutheran Church over a period of 48 years. Jim has four children by his first wife who passed away in 2002. All of his children and grandchildren live in Regina. Jim remarried in 2004 to Cheryl, an Anglican priest, who is the chaplain at Luther College at the University of Regina. Jim studied watercolour painting back in the 50's under the tutelage of Margaret Messer. From there he branched into oil painting and taught this at the high school level for a while. Oils took him into acrylics, and when his first wife became terminally ill, he returned to the pureness and beauty of waters - where he remains today although acrylic painting has snuck back into his studio. Along the road to discovery he has benefitted from classes under the brush of Jack Reid, Donna Kreikle, Elaine Seis , Arlie Hoffman, John Molnar , Linda Kemp, Bryan Atyeo, Allan Lonechild, Carl Schlademan and  three years of personal tutoring by Agnes Almar. Jim has traveled very extensively in the world and enjoys painting florals and landscapes. Many exciting bends lie ahead. Learning is a lifelong journey with every curve and bend offering a new insight. Jim has just graduated  with a  Master of Divinity degree through Carey College at the University of British Columbia. Next January he expects to start on his doctorate.
